History of Kaizirege and Kemebos Schools

Introduction

The history of Kaizirege and Kemebos Schools began with Kaizirege Primary School, the mother institution located at Mtara, IJuganyondo Ward, Bukoba Municipality, Kagera Region, Tanzania. Established with a vision of providing high-quality education, the school has grown into one of Tanzania’s leading educational institutions, offering education from Kindergarten to Advanced Level.

The school is guided by its motto, “Education for Outstanding Heights,” which reflects its commitment to academic excellence, character development, and leadership.

Mission

To properly guide the coming generation on how to overcome the challenges of life in a dynamic world while respecting and preserving their African heritage, values, and identity.

Vision

Kaizirege and Kemebos Schools are founded on three important pillars:

  • Knowledge – By pursuing knowledge, learners understand what should be done and what should be avoided, enabling them to become informed and responsible citizens.
  • Wisdom – Learners develop the ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, understanding, and experience.
  • Virtue – The school nurtures honesty, integrity, patriotism, loyalty, and strong moral values that prepare learners to become responsible members of society.

Founding and Establishment

Kaizirege Primary School was founded on 1st August 2007 and officially opened on 1st January 2008 by His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the Fourth President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The school was established under the visionary leadership of its founder and Managing Director, Mr. Eusto Kaizirege Ntagalinda, whose dream was to provide world-class education within Tanzania. One of his major motivations was to reduce the growing number of Tanzanian students who were leaving the country to seek education in neighbouring countries by providing an institution that could offer education of the highest standard at home.

Supporting him in this vision were Mrs. Elizabeth Kaizirege, Deputy Director, and Mr. Elogius Katiti, Deputy School Manager, who formed the school’s first management team.

The founding technical staff included Headmaster Mr. Francis Muso, the founding Academic Master Mr. Evans Mwaskeziri, together with dedicated teachers including Teacher Edith Nababi, Mr. Medard Bwauika, Mr. A. Y. Kushaka, and Teacher Azizi Komungoma. Their commitment and professionalism laid the strong academic foundation upon which the school continues to build today.

Although the school admitted approximately 50 pupils during its first year, it was established as a fully boarding school, providing students with a safe, disciplined, and academically focused learning environment.

Early Development

The year 2008 marked two significant milestones in the school’s history. First, the school was officially inaugurated by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Secondly, it presented its first examination class, whose outstanding performance in the national examinations immediately established the school’s reputation for academic excellence.

The remarkable results led to a rapid increase in student enrolment and strengthened public confidence in the institution. As demand continued to grow, the school expanded its academic programmes while constructing additional classrooms, dormitories, and other facilities to accommodate the increasing student population.

During the same period, pupils were admitted into Primary Five, forming the school’s first Primary Seven candidate class. In 2010, these candidates achieved exceptional results by ranking among the top-performing schools in the country, further enhancing the school’s reputation for excellence.

Construction and Development

The construction of Kaizirege Primary School began in 2006 as the founder’s vision of establishing a centre of academic excellence started to take shape. Throughout the year, significant progress was made in developing the school’s infrastructure, including classrooms, dormitories, administrative offices, and other essential facilities. By the end of 2007, the initial phase of construction had been completed, creating a conducive learning environment that paved the way for the school’s establishment. This remarkable achievement enabled the school to begin preparations for admitting its first pupils before its official opening in January 2008.

Expansion into Secondary Education

Between 2008 and 2010, preparations were made to expand into secondary education. As a result, Kaizirege Secondary School was officially established in 2011, enrolling many of the pupils who had successfully completed their Primary Seven education at Kaizirege Primary School.

The school’s outstanding academic performance continued at the secondary level. Its first Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) candidates achieved excellent results, ranking among the best in Tanzania and further strengthening the school’s reputation.

In recognition of these achievements, the Managing Director introduced a tradition of rewarding outstanding students and teachers whose dedication contributed to exceptional academic performance.

A major milestone was achieved in 2013, when the school’s pioneering Form Four class attained outstanding results, ranking first nationally among schools with fewer than forty candidates. This historic achievement firmly established Kaizirege as one of Tanzania’s leading academic institutions.

Growth of Kemebos and Other Campuses

As enrolment continued to increase, the institution expanded beyond its original campus. The establishment of Kemebos School and other campuses enabled the institution to provide quality education to even more learners while maintaining its high academic standards and commitment to excellence.

The continued growth of the institution also led to the establishment of the High School Campus, which officially began operations in 2016, completing the school’s vision of providing a continuous educational pathway from early childhood education through Advanced Level.
